Matthew used to be chubby and round back in his secondary school days, often being looked down upon by friends because he was “not sporty enough”. Meanwhile his peers were all basketball players and Matthew admired them for having such athletic physiques. After he began studying at Polytechnic, he decided it was time for a change. Matthew joined Sprint Canoe CCA, started hitting the gym and doing circuit training plus HIIT workouts without much knowledge on all that he was doing, also starving himself in hopes of losing the mass. As a result, he became weak and restless – far from reaching his goals, he didn’t gain much strength either. With this wake-up call, Matthew finally decided to seek help and advice from friends who were knowledgeable in fitness training. He gradually saw improvement, slowly reaching his targeted goal and eventually developing a passion for fitness.
